Volunteer Opportunities
Here's how you can directly affect the lives of needy animals in our area...

Associate Board Members Needed: The SNAP Board of Directors has just created 9 non-voting Associate Board Member positions (1 for each of the current sitting Board Members) to help us increase the number of our volunteers, to learn about the inner workings of the organization from a different perspective, and so that we have “Board Members in Waiting” trained and ready to replace any outgoing Board Member. So far we have voted in 1 Associate Board Member and have another person who is as interested in us as we are in her. Please let us know if you are interested in applying for one of these openings. We have an exceptional Board of Directors and hope there are several exceptional people out there interested in coming aboard.

Community outreach: Humane education and public awareness of spay/neuter are critical to reaching the goal of no more homeless pets. You can do your part by promoting the benefits of spay/neuter, sponsoring a stray or a friend's pet.

Newsletter Editor/Designer Volunteer Needed: SNAP is in need of someone to take over the full responsibility of designing, writing, and editing our annual newsletter. In addition, we also need help with the design of any publications/mailings throughout the year for pledges, sponsorships, etc.

Phone Committee volunteers: SNAP receives a number of calls each week requesting information on our low-cost spay/neuter services. We need additional volunteers to retreive messages, return phone calls and mail spay/neuter vouchers. If you have a few hours each month, would like to volunteer from the comfort of your own home and enjoy interacting with the public, please contact SNAP at (717) 732-LESS (5377) to learn how you can become a valuable member of this team.

Spay/Neuter Express volunteers: The Spay/Neuter Express typically handles about 80 to 85 cats at each clinic. SNAP needs volunteers to register the cats at the check-in table, tag the carriers with identification information and carry cat carriers to and from the mobile veterinary unit. The clinic makes stops on Saturdays throughout the year at both East and West Shore locations. No Experience is Necessary! You'll be working with two or three other volunteers. It's a fun day, easy work and you'll be making a difference in the effort to stop pet overpopulation.

Public Relations:We are proud of everything that SNAP is accomplishing and has accomplished to date…we just need someone to toot our horn! If you have PR or Marketing experience and can help us promote ourselves we would love to hear from you!
